In the closing bout, Julio Gonzalez (36-2, 22 KO's) stopped David Telesco (29-4-1, 24 KO's) after Telesco fell into the ropes and Gonzalez unleashed a combination of punches that prompted the referee to jump in and halt the action at 1:06 of the 8th.

In a fight that was admittedly a make or break situation for the former WBO Champion, Julio Gonzalez came through and held on to his hopes of regaining another shot at the title in this seesaw battle with David Telesco, who also was in the same position as Gonzalez and now is on the outside looking in.

As for the action in the ring, the 2 fighters came in to fight and after a bit of a feeling out process the leather started to fly as they took turns landing solid blows to the head.

Rounds 2 and 3 appeared to go to

Telesco, as he did just enough work in the last seconds of each to steal one, if not both the rounds!

But things changed in round 4 as the tall long armed Gonzalez did the one thing that is contrary to what a long armed fighter should do. Julio took the game to the inside and began to do some precise bodywork that immediately took the life out of Telesco. Julio did some nice work on the inside, starting downstairs and then getting some work in upstairs as well. Telesco was visibly shaken by the onslaught and it was evident that the tide was about to turn.

Over the next couple of rounds Telesco was doing his best to get back into the flow, and just when it appeared that he was taking advantage, Gonzalez would land some body shots that stopped Telesco in his tracks and forced him into a retreat mode.

Round 7 was the beginning of the end for Telesco as Julio went to work and landed some of the best punches of the fight. For the entire round Gonzalez would track down Telesco, who was now in full retreat, and when he caught up with him, Gonzalez would once again land to the body and head with sharp accurate blows, especially the ones downstairs.

In round 8 Julio came out like a whirlwind, and with but a few nice punches that landed flush, Telesco was against the ropes and Julio was on top of him quickly. It was then that Gonzalez swarmed and landed a series of unanswered punches that prompted the ref to bring the bout to a halt at the 1:06 mark.

With the win Gonzalez keeps his Title aspirations alive, and in a division full of empty belts, it is quite possible that we will see the Southern Californian via Baja Mexico get yet another chance to take home the big prize!
