As WBC Heavyweight Champ Vitali Klitschko entered the room for the post fight press conference, I couldn't help but think of the story of the guy who beat the crap out of somebody's hands, with his face!

With both hands wrapped up in gauze, Klitschko, who just had fought a few hours prior, and retained his belt, addressed the media who were diligent enough to wait until Vitali returned from the hospital after getting some precautionary X-rays on the hands that dealt out so much damage to the face and head of the fallen foe, Danny Williams. Williams also was rushed to the hospital and did not attend the post fight press conference. The injuries he received were much more severe and a full CAT Scan was required to make sure the Brit was in no risk of bigger problems!

As usual Vitali was more than happy to speak about his victory telling the press,"I went to the hospital as a precaution because both my hands were swollen, They are taped now but the doctor said I will be fine and could fight in a couple of months. Nothing is broken. This is no big deal.I cannot say exactly when I hurt them, or with what punch, but I first started to feel pain in the hands in the second round, and felt more and more pain in each round thereafter."

As to the goings on in the ring itself Klitschko said, "I feel good. I did not take a lot of punches in the fight. Danny Williams did never hurt me. I tried to finish him in the first round, but Danny Williams showed a lot of heart and came back. I was very surprised at how many punches he took."

In his closing statements The Champ revealed, "I am happy with my performance, but fights, like life, are all about learning and gaining experience. I hope the fans enjoyed our fight tonight. I fight for the audience. They are the ones who pay to watch me fight and I hope they will want to watch me again.I am not prepared to say who I will fight next, or when the fight will be, or where. There are several possibilities, lots of big names. We will see."
In closing Vitali revealed that he and his brother Wladimir would be off to Germany and his home in the Ukraine on Sunday! In his closing statemant a happ Champ promised, "The best is yet to come!"

Earlier in the main press room, both Carlos Hernandez and WBO Champ Miguel Cotto addressed the huge crowd and spoke about their night.

Hernandez told Boxing2004, " I was fighting him and the ref in there, the ref said he was going to take a point, well don't say it do it! The guy was grinding his head on the inside trying to cut me, he was trying to make this cut deeper with his head! It was very frustrating bit my corner calmed me down, because I was getting upset! But I got the victory, and now it's bigger and better things for 2005!"

Miguel Cotto told us that this performance should put him in that "Big Fight" category that Kostya Tzsyu spoke about after his recent victory, and that all the Champions in his division should take more notice of him now!
