Las Vegas- Two powerful forces will collide when three-time world champion Erik 'El Terrible' Morales and two-time working champion Manny Pacquiao collide on Top Rank's 'The Battle' championship event on Saturday 21, 2006, at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Boxing2005 was there at the Wynn for the kick-off press conference today.
 
I started the day by asking Manny, "Morales beat you the first time be he also lost his last fight. Do you think that his loss will give him more pressure to beat you again?"
 

Paqman answered, "No." That's when Gary Shaw jumped in and said, "Anytime a fighter suffers a loss he has more determination for the next fight. No one likes to lose and no one wants to follow a loss another loss. So of course this is how Morales must feel Manny will win."  Manny began to mention, "If I win"...and then Gary jumped in and said "Hell no...WHEN you win!"
 
I then asked Manny what does this fight mean to him and for his Filipino Country.
Gary answered again, "This fight means a lot of course, Manny is bigger in the Philippines than Elvis was in the US!"
 
I also got to pose some questions to Eric Morales after the lunch session.
 
I started by asking, before the last fight with Pac, he was talking about this secret weapon called "Manilla Ice." Apparently that didn't work. Do you think he has any other secret weapons for this fight? Morales laughed, "If he has one maybe it will be better this time, and he can show it to me."
