Guerrero's Message Is Clear  Acts 2:38 - Audio
"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
How often do you see a Bible verse or scripture on the robe and trunks of fighters as they enter the ring? Probably more often than you even realize.
While taking the IBF featherweight crown Robert Guerrero had a simple verse on his waist band. We thought  we would give The Ghost a chance to tell us what that is all about along with telling us how he won that first World Title belt.

AUDIO - Oscar De La Hoya, "No If's And's Or But's...
I Am Going To Continue To Reflect On My Decision"

September is out, Saturday, May 5th 2007 is the target for a ring return.

The next fight will be his last, and it will be against Floyd.

With that, Oscar still leaves the door open to retire before then.

Floyd Sr. will be training Oscar when the fight goes down.

Oscar says he feels beating Floyd, who is considered today's best Pound 4 Pound boxer, would make him the best Pound 4 Pound fighter in the World,  "That's the motivation, that's the drive!"

According to Richard Schaeffer, there was no problem in negotiations with Floyds management team which is headed up by Al Haymon. Rumors that negotiations fell out were just that, rumors.

The only thing that will keep Oscar from going after Mayweather will be if his body won't allow him to go on in a manner that would allow him to be at the top of his game.

Oscar hopes Bob Arum and he can restore their relationship and that Bob will be sitting ringside at his retirement bout.

Bernard Hopkins Conference Call
With
Audio Highlights

BERNARD HOPKINS:  I think it's going to rate Bernard Hopkins, definitely, probably in the top five.   And I'll consider taking five, if that's the case, because all of the great middleweights that came before me, that don't get really talked about, to be mentioned in the top five or even top 10 is just – it's a very great accomplishment.   I mean will be pleased to be anywhere, five, 10 but just to be talked about from the legacy point of view, and the history point of view is just – I mean look at how many fighters won't even be thought about in the next two years, let alone (INAUDIBLE).   So it will be a great accomplishment.   Enrique Ornelas Hopes Sergio Mora
Will Consider Taking Him On -
Audio Interview

Although the official announcement has yet to be made, it appears the May 4th card featuring The Contender stars is a go and will take place in Las Vegas. The Main Event on that attraction will be The Contender Champion Sergio Mora (17-0, 3 KO's). At the present time there has been no opponent named for The Latin Snake, but fighters are already lobbying for a chance to square off with the undefeated fighter. Ex-Champion Raul Marquez is coming out of retirement and he says he wants a piece of Mora.

One fighter who came to mind for a more than worthy opponent is the resurgent Enrique Ornelas ( 23-2, 14 KO's). Ornelas has put together 3 impressive wins in a row since the change in his management team and he feels a fight with Mora would be a real exciting crowd pleaser, and we agree. The Southern California fighters have met twice in the amateur ranks, with each fighter winning one time, a rubber match on National TV would be a great way to settle the score.

We got in touch with Ornelas and spoke to him about the prospect of fighting Mora again, needless to say, he is all for it. As usual the humble Ornelas did not trash talk or say he is a better fighter than anyone else mentioned. He was just excited that his name has come up in the mix and is hopeful he will be taken seriously when Mora decides who he will face that night.

We caught the interview on audio and we would like you to hear what he has to say for himself. As always, no membership required to hear this FREE audio interview.

Fine Future For Flushing Flash - Audio Interview
Two weeks ago the K2 Promotions Lightweight, Kevin Kelley (58-6-2,39 KO's) defeated Juan Carlos Ramirez with a second round knockout performance. With the victory Kelley has now put together four big wins in a row and he is now looking for bigger fights to conclude his fine career. After the fight Kevin called out Naseem Hamed looking for a rematch to the first exciting brawl that The Prince won. That could be one fight on the horizon, another fight that has been spoken about recently is againt Carlos "Famoso" Hernandez on the undercard of Miguel Cottos scheduled bout in June that would coincide with the Puerto Rican Day festivities in New York. Kelley, who is 1/2 Puerto Rican would be a great fit on the Top Rank card, so don't be surprised to see him as part of that attraction.

We recently spoke to Kevin and are bringing you the entire conversation we had with him on audio. As always, we are happy to bring you this chat for FREE.

Lacy Still Fears Calzaghe Will Chicken Out at 11th Hour

Audio Interview & Story By William Trillo

The Super Middleweight Title unification fight between Jeff Lacy and Joe Calzaghe is two weeks away but IBF & IBO Champion Jeff Lacy still has concerns that The WBO Champ Calzaghe will find a way to pull out of this one before it is consummated, and he told Boxing2006 his worries in an Exclusive interview you can read and listen to only here!

“He has a history of it (pulling out) and I have trained very hard, I'll be pissed, I'll be very pissed if he pulls out at the last minute," said Lacy, who has had fears of Calzaghe pulling out long before this match was officially made.

Lacy agreed to the fight only after a massive penalty for pullout was written into the contract by his promoter Gary Shaw, widely reported as between $500,000-$600,000

Lacy went on to say, “The only respect that I have for Calzaghe right now is for him not pulling out of this fight! There was a chance that he could have pulled out of this fight, but now it's two weeks away and it's getting closer and closer, but I still got my fingers crossed that he don't pull out of this fight, I mean, he has called out other fighters in the past and it never went down.”

Famoso Clears The Air - Audio Interview
Reports were swirling around the internet over the past weeks that former Super Featherweight Champ Carlos Famoso Hernandez was going to face Bobby Pacquiao in a rematch of his controversial loss to the other Pacquiao last year. The bout was reported to be taking place on tonight's card in Texas featuring Jose Castillo and Rolando Reyes, in fact, up until a few days ago a boxing records website had that bout slated on the official card.

But, we also knew that Carlos just became a Daddy as his wife gave birth to their new daughter just one week ago...something didn't add up.

To confirm or deny the report, Boxing2006 got in touch with Carlos and we let him clear the air. We also found out his plans for the coming year and got his thoughts on a variety of topics surrounding the 130 pound division.

As usual, Famoso was polite yet firm about his convictions regarding his career and we thought you would like to hear what he had to say.

As usual, this Audio interview is FREE for everyone. It's great not to have to be a member!

  Arum:
HBO & Showtime Say "White Men Can't Fight."

Kelly Pavlick Teleconference Audio

On a national teleconference call this Wednesday with his top middleweight prospect, Kelly Pavlik, Bob Arum of Top Rank accused the two networks of largely boycotting his boxer in 2005 because of the color of his skin. In a form of reverse discrimination, Arum said," There is a perception with boxing network people, that if you are a white guy, you cant fight!"

Arum has long be a magician at promoting his fights by stirring up controversy, but his latest pot boiler defies belief: HBO and Showtime would ignore a ranked fighter with a superb 27-0 record because he is white? Say what, Bob?

Arum goes on further by saying, "They (the networks) judge people by their color, by their racial background and all of that, and the general tendency is that white guys cant fight!"

Told of Arum's accusation against the networks, a longtime industry source with a history of dealing with Arum said the promoter was just trying to be inflammatory to hype his show. The source also said, that on last check, the Klitschko’s brothers and Ricky Hatton were white, among others. And then offered this rhetorical question, “What color is De La Hoya by the way?”

Oh, and if you want to see Pavlik fight, he's on the Jan. 21 undercard of the Erik Morales-Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view fight which will be aired by (drum roll) HBO. Duh?

As with most Arum tirades, which are a trademark of the 70 plus year old promoter, sometimes it's best you hear it yourself rather than through a media filter. So, Boxing2006 brings you the entire audio of the teleconference. Judge this one for yourselves:
