Breaking Danger Zone News

Boxing2006/Pound4Pound.com has learned that Golden Boy Promotions is set to ask the Nevada State Commission to deny Ricardo Mayorga’s Co-Trainer Stacey McKinley from working the corner during the upcoming Danger Zone bout.

You may remember McKinley, he was suspended in the State of California for using ammonia smelling salts to help revive his fighter, Tito Mendoza during his bout with Librado Andrade in June of 2004. In this bout, Mendoza hit the deck on three occasions but came back into the following rounds with no visible signs of the beating he was taking.

Mckinley was blatantly using the foreign substance and was caught not only by the HBO Latino cameras, but the California State Athletic Commission as well, who confiscated the substance immediately after the bout and found it to be the illegal ammonia smelling salts that led to McKinley’s suspension.

While it is unlikely that McKinley would pull any such stunt against De La Hoya after all the publicity from the Andrade fight, it is apparent that Oscar is pushing for the ban to both weaken Mayorga's corner and to get under the emotionally charged Nicaraguan’s skin in an effort to anger him into getting even more reckless in the ring than usual.

After the verbal assault Oscar took during pressers with the foul mouthed Mayoraga, all signs point to Oscar firing back the first salvo before the Golden Boy takes out his wrath with his fists as he has promised.

Parties concerned will meet with the Nevada Commission in the middle of the week to sort out this protest that Golden Boy is intent on making.
