Guinn Loses Again,
Why Is He Still Being Televised?

By Bret "The Threat" Newton

Dominick Guinn (now 28-6, 19 KO's) lost another, lethargic, lazy, and complete
shutout fight in another ESPN main event. This time to journeyman and short noticed Robert Hawkins, who has lost nearly half the fights he's won, let alone knocked out in 5 in his previous fight. Not only did he lose the fight convincingly, one judge didn't find a single round to give Guinn, while another judge found only one. Several questions ponder in one's mind through the surroundings of this fight and it's final result. My first question of the week was: "Why is Guinn even still being televised, let alone in another main event?". Guinn is a guy who's lackadaisical performances made you rather want to watch a John Ruiz fight. Ruiz may be awkward, but at least he tries in the majority of his fights. Guinn's 6 losses came to Monte Barrett, Surgei Liakhovich, James Toney, Tony Thompson, Eddie Chambers and now Robert Hawkins. Each of his losses came by decision, with a lackluster performance by Guinn who always promised much more from himself.

Just going over some of the scores in all his loses, why would anyone still promote him, let alone want to offer him as a main event on their network?

Guinn won 3 rounds on two cards against Barrett in 2004.
Guinn won 3 rounds on one judges card against Liakhovich in 2004.
Guinn won 1 single round on two judges cards against Toney in 2005.
Guinn won 1 single round on one judges card against Thompson in 2006.
Guinn didn't win a single round on one judges card against Chambers in 2007.
Guinn didn't win a single round on one judges card against Hawkins tonight.

That's horrendous, and the uncounted judges scores in those fights didn't have it much better for Guinn either. His fighting skills aren't the problem. Guinn seemed to have the skill a long time ago when he first jumped into the scene. It's his lack of motivation, among other related issues. Why does a fighter who doesn't want to fight, FIGHT? AND, why would anyone want to watch him? When you're the featured fighter of the night and you lose every single round, over and over again, don't you think it's time to call it a day? Sure it's commendable to Guinn that he hasn't just quit, and has kept trying, but in reality it's not, and his "trying" is equal to a couch potato trying to reach the remote control on the nearby coffee table with the pillow. That's not really trying at all.

I wrote that Guinn was finished a few losses ago and have posted that he should have retired just to save us the time and frustration of having to watch his boring fights, but this has got to be the final straw. That's it. No more Guinn! Get out of here! Stop lying to us, saying how you'll be back and better than ever, because all you do is come back and prove to be more worthless and boring. It's insulting to us to even have listened, let alone showed up or tuned in to your fight/s. In fact, I'm sure not many even really care to read this report simply because the word "Guinn" is in the title, so who really cares anyway.

Robert Hawkins improves to 23-10, with 7 KO's. Final scores were 97-93, 99-91, and 100-90.
