A British columnist, Jeff Powell from The Daily Mail is reporting that the reason Mikkel Kessler (AKA Where’s Waldo) has been in hiding is that he is believed to be nursing a severely bruised hand and hasn’t been able to spar for two weeks.

The Daily Mail's Powell wrote today:

Mikkel Kessler is believed to be shielding a hand so damaged that he has been unable to spar for two weeks and is not expected to do so before climbing through the ropes at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Camp Kessler are playing down whispered reports of the injury and, bone deep though the bruising is said to be, it will not jeopardize their man's appearance before the most populous fight crowd ever assembled under one roof in Britain…

Powell did not mention which hand, nor the source of his information but trust us, Pound4Pound is attempting to reach Powell for that information will keep you updated as soon as we hear.

The article certainly seems to answer the sudden "under the radar" tactics we have seen from Team Palle & Kessler over the past few weeks.

Kessler has always been a stand up guy, a great guy to interview, and up to the hiding point, was giving lots of interviews, enjoying the attention that this high profile unifier was bringing. You have to figure Kessler is getting a share of the gate so having his name in the press on a daily basis would only help his cau$e. Add to that the fact that Team Palle is very publicity conscious and suddenly Kessler going into hiding makes sense in light of this breaking hand injury news.

One small word of caution on the report, Jeff Powell was also the writer with the big exclusive that Lewis was coming out of retirement, and we know what happened there.

But the fact that Kessler has been in "Stealth" mode for the past few weeks even through the constant “Where’s Kessler” reports seems to point to some validity in this very intriguing report.
