Letter From Rudy Lopez To Naoki Matsuda
Translated By Luis Cadiz
Dear Naoki,
I have been going through some difficult
days and I need to openly and publicly apologize for my
actions that took place once the fight ended. I am ashamed
and I pray to God that you, as a fighter and as a person,
accept my apology.
My boxing commission has suspended for some time and they have also fined me. I accept all sanctions because I was at fault of letting my emotions get the best of me. I went out of control, please accept my apology for such action.
I came to the fight with many months of
preparation, only thinking of beatingyou so that I can
vindicate the previous knock out loss that you handed me
onmy home turf. That is why it was so important for me to
demonstrate to my public, my family and myself that I could
get the victory. I felt that thefight was in my favor and
when the referee declared me the loser, I lost my
sense of reason and I behaved inappropriately, please forgive me. I wish you and your family a very Happy Holidays and hopefully, at another time, we can fight again and wind up being friends after wards. I also want to apologize to all the boxing fans, my promoter and the WBC. I extend my apology to all in the sport of boxing and the press, this will never happen again.
Sincerely,
Rodolfo Rudy Lopez
