Former WBC & NABF Bantamweight Champion Wayne McCullough affectionately known as "The Pocket Rocket" retired in the ring last night after his fight in The Cayman Islands on Friday night. McCullough who had not fought in almost 3 years was giving it one more shot as he was taking on Juan Diaz in a bout for the NABF Featherweight title.

Although ahead on the cards at the end of six, 58-57, 58-56 & Ruiz 58-56, McCullough knew something was not right and he did not come out for round seven and shortly thereafter announced his retirement from the ring.

Pound4Pound got in touch with Wayne's wife Cheryl and she told us, "Wayne had enough and although he was ahead, he knew he was done."

Boxing fans from Wayne's home of Belfast North Ireland to the United States can thank "The Pocket Rocket" for giving us some of the greatest and most action packed fights in recent memory.

Wayne will be remembered in the ring as a true warrior and a Champion and we know he will keep giving us years of enjoyment outside the ring as he has become one of the top journalists in both Boxing & MMA.

Cheers mate!
