He is an undefeated lightweight from
Southern California and after his latest victory just a few
short weeks ago Dominic Salcido (16-0, 8 KO's) is set and
ready to burst onto the National scene.
Pound4Pound spoke to Salcido recently and we got a glimpse of what the young man is all about.
P4P: Let's jump right into this...tell
us about your latest victory.
Salcido: It was a good test for
me, I knew it was going to be a good tough fight. That's why
I trained real hard and I proved that in the ring.
P4P: You move real well on your feet and
it looks like that was first and utmost in your game plan.
Salcido: My footwork is my
specialty and I like to use it a lot, it's always a part of
my game plan. That's what got everyone's attention and
that's why everyone likes me...it's all about my footwork!
P4P: You have a great fan base in
California and you really packed the house with some pretty
boisterous fans in your last fight. Tell us about your
growing support and how important it is to you.
Salcido: My fan's out here are
great and they follow me wherever I fight. My family is a
big part of my fans, they have followed me since the
amateurs, they are very important to me as I grow. The main
thing to me is that my fans have always stayed with me, I
give them a good show every time!
P4P: You were fighting almost monthly,
then you had a big break before your last fight, can you
tell us about the lay-off?
Salcido: I had a hand injury. I
was a bit discouraged and down for about a year so it was
important for me to come back big, and I did. But it felt
great to be back and I want to keep that feeling and get
more exposure.
P4P: So we should expect to see a lot
more of you throughout the remainder of the year!
Salcido: Definitely! I'd like to
get in title contention this year if I can, I am looking for
a big step up in my next few fights.
Pound4Pound would like to thank Rachel
Charles for helping set up this interview.
