All-Star Boxing
Card Is All Blood & Guts
Report & Photos By William Trillo
If one was looking for a night of
great action they didn't have to look any further than
the fine card put on by All-Star Boxing at The Commerce
Casino on Thursday night. With a plethora of stars in
the crowd it was a night many boxing fans will remember.
The main event saw Lightweight
Hector Serrano move his record to 9-0 as he battled it
out with Steve Gonzalez (7-4). Serrano didn't have any
time to shake of any ring rust he may have accumulated
after a 1 year layoff as Gonzalez made him work for a
hard earned unanimous decision over 6 rounds. Scores
read 59-55 & 58-56 twice.
In a battle of undefeated
Middleweights Chris Chatman had all he could handle with
Francisco Mora. The battle was tight until Mora was cut
over his left eye and then the bloodied warrior had
trouble until the doctor stopped the fight at the 2:26
mark of round 4. Chatman moves to 4-0 while Mora drops
to 4-1.
Heavyweight Seth Holbrook moved to
3-0 by stopping a game Danny Gonzalez (1-1) in the 4th
round at 1:06.
Middleweight Stephan Zeytunyan (3-0)
took an entertaining majority decision over Mario
Evangelista (3-5).
Featherweight Alan Martinez
(3-0-1) was awarded a unanimous decision in his 4 round
scrap with Hugo Ramos (2-3-1).
In a Jr. Featherweight battle Pro
Debuting Frank Gutierrez took a majority decision over
Luis Alberto Ramos (1-7-2) in a 4 rounder.
Also making his pro debut was Jr.
Welter Chad Yarvitz who went toe to toe with a tough
Anthony Wheaton who fell to 0-2 after getting dumped to
the seat of his pants in the early seconds of the bout
and came up on the short end of a unanimous
decision. Stay tuned to Pound4Pound for video highlights
of this exciting match.
The list of celebrities was big as
Chris Arreola, Alfonso Gomez, Urbano Antillon, Mike
Anchondo and Javier Mora were all in attendance.
As always the irrepressible Jim
Fitzgerald did a fine job as the evenings Emcee.
