Dawson & Pascal Exchange Verbal
Barbs
At Final Press Conference In Montreal
By Daniel Cloutier
The Chad Dawson vs. Jean Pascal final press conference
before their Light Heavyweight title showdown was held this
week in Montreal at the Radio-Energie station where things
got heated quickly and these quotes should speak for
themselves:
Jean Pascal: I know that Chad Dawson is considered as
the sixth best fighter pound for pound in the world, but my
team deserves to be considered as the best pound for pound
in the world, with Yvon Michel as promoter, Pedro Diaz who
handles my physical preparation, Marc Ramsay as my trainer,
Rod Shincke as sport psychologist, and Russ Anber as cutman.
I know that Dawson is the favorite by 4-1 in Las Vegas, but
I will do everything possible to cause a big surprise
Saturday night at Bell Centre.
When I was 8 years old, my goal was to become world
champion, and fight on HBO, and now, my goal is to become
eventually the best fighter pound for pound in the world.
Chad Dawson: Pascal, you talk about causing a surprise,
but you will have a big surprise when the fight gets
started. After the bout, you will be no choice but to admit
my superiority, and admit that I am the real king of the
light heavyweight division.
Pascal: I know Chad that you are a great offensive and
defensive fighter, but I just hope that you will not fight
like a chicken in front of my fans.
Dawson: You should be ashamed to call me chicken. You
will pay the big price fort that insult.
Pascal: Dawson, it seems that you don't understand my
English. I did not say that you are a chicken, I just said
that I hope that you will fight like a man, and not run like
a chicken.
Gary Shaw: Chad is the real thing. He is, with Floyd
Mayweather Jr, the two best fighters pound for pound in the
world. Jean Pascal is dreaming if he really believes that he
will leave the ring with the WBC belt. The belt with be in
the Chad's luggage when he returns in Connecticut.
As of press time there were only 6,000 seats sold at The
Bell Center for Saturday’s card, and Promoter Yvon Michel is
expecting a crowd of around 10,000. HBO is expecting that 5
millions viewers will see the fight in U.S.A., and we are
expecting that 100,000 Quebec boxing fans will buy the fight
on the Quebec pay per view.
