Molina Embarrasses "Stammering
Stank" Lundy
Who Is Calling Who Dumb Now?
By William Trillo
Former WBO NABO lightweight champ Hank Lundy was a taught a
big lesson by John Molina on Friday night but considering
the way Lundy acted before, during and after the fight I am
going to say he won't retain one bit of that humiliating
information. In front of a home town crowd and an ESPN
nationally televised audience, Lundy was made a fool of by a
never say die John Molina who shut the mouth of the light
hitting Lundy by stopping him in the 11th round.
In the pre-fight interviews on ESPN the less than gracious
"Stammering Stank" called Molina a dumb fighter numerous
times and then when handed a list of the top fighters in his
lightweight division he promptly ripped the paper up in the
face of the camera and said none of these guys stood a
chance against him.
Yeah, I am sure Juan Manuel Marquez, Robert Guerrero and
Juan Diaz et. al. are all shaking in their boots after
seeing his performance on Friday night. Nothing more
frightening than an unorthodox boxer with little or no punch
who hops into punches like an Easter Bunny and then runs
like a Jack Rabbit at the first sign of trouble.
Let's look at the facts, Lundy was pitching a shutout for 7
rounds while Molina methodically tracked his victim down
without winning a round. Then like a ton of lightning Molina
cracked the never in the right position Lundy with a right
hand that damn near took "Stammering Stanks" head off. When
Lundy peeled himself up off the canvas he claimed it was a
slip...yeah it was a slip allright. It was a slip of his
mouth spewing all that disrespectful garbage about Molina
that now got shoved down his throat like a plate full of
crow.
Still playing the disrespectful ingrate, Lundy continued to
stick his tongue out at Molina every chance he got. It was
obvious he had not learned his lesson. From that point it is
was the Lundy track meet, but now Molina was catching and
hurting Lundy at a rapid clip.
In one of the dumbest boxing moves I have ever seen, and no
it wasn't from Molina, Lundy was pressed against the ropes
when he decided to grab the ropes with his right hand in
some kind of show of bravado...I guess? All he showed to
Molina was a wide open chin and John promptly dropped 2
crisp left hands right on the wide open target. That was the
beginning of the end for Lundy who never recuperated from
those shots and saw his title lifted as Molina dropped
numerous bombs off the now silent Lundy's dome. The fight
was promptly waved off by the ref as Moilna continued to
land on the defenseless Lundy.
Hometown fans and Lundy's corner were none too pleased and
they showed their displeasure by pointing fingers and
threatening anyone within arms distance of Molina.
Apparently Lundy's classless attitude is contagious. All the
whining went for naught as Molina and everyone involved with
Goossen Promotions raised their arms in a championship belt
winning victory salute.
Frankly, I couldn't be more thrilled with Molina's win. The
last thing boxing needs right now is another cocky fighter
with no punch whose skills are far outweighed by his mouth.
Could I make myself any more clear?
And yes, I am sure that Molina would consider giving
"Stammering Stank" a rematch. All Lundy has to do is pick
his fighting on the east coast only carcass up off the mat
and drag his beltless waist to the West Coast to fight in
the new WBO NABO lightweight Champion John Molina's back
yard.
