Librado Andrade Set To Face
Donovan George
IBF Super Middleweight Title Shot To The Winner
By William Trillo
Librado Andrade (30-4,
23 KO's) vs. Donovan George (22-1-1, 19 KO's ) is set to
take place on December 17th in Mexico. The IBF has
sanctioned the bout as their 168 pound title eliminator
and the winner will look to face the winner of Lucian
Bute vs. Glen Johnson, that bout is set to take place in
November. As we know Andrade has a bit of history with
Bute and the chance of a third fight between the two is
a very real possibility. Of course Andrade will have to
get by a hard hitting fighter known as "The Bomb", an
alias that suits the hard hitting fighter from Chicago
very well. The fight that will be televised in Mexico
and the USA should be a very entertaining bout.
We spoke to Andrade about the upcoming fight and got
some quick thoughts on the December battle.
Pound4Pound: OK Librado, it goes without saying that
everyone is going to ask you about the prospect of
fighting Lucian Bute once again, so let's get that
question out of the way!
Librado Andrade: I would love to fight Lucian again. I
felt so much disappointment after our second fight and I
really want to erase that bad memory from my mind.
P4P: Obviously the task at hand is Donovan George but
you do realize everyone is going to want to ask you
about Bute. Will you be able to focus on your December
fight with George properly?
LA: Oh, most definitively yes. I know he is a very good
and hard fitting fighter, my focus will be 110% on
Donovan. I start training camp very soon and once it
gets going it will be as if Lucian does not even exist.
I will not think about Bute or talk about him once I
start preparing for George. That will not be a problem
for me at all.
P4P: How much do you know about George? Have you seen
his fights?
LA: Yes I have and I know he is a very good fighter. He
has earned his place in this title eliminator and I will
not underestimate him at all. I always respect the man I
am going up against and don't take anything for granted.
This is a big opportunity for both of us and I know he
will be ready, and I will be ready for him.
P4P: The fight takes place in Mexico and it will be the
second time you get to fight in your country. You
performed very well in your last fight there against
Matt O'Brien, you must be thrilled to be fighting there
again.
LA: Oh yes! This is a very big fight for me and I am so
honored to be able to bring this meaningful fight back
home in front of my friends and family. I look forward
to fighting in Mexico again.
P4P: The Super Middleweight division has been one of the
hottest in boxing over the past few years, some would
say it is the most exciting division in boxing today. It
must mean a lot for you to still be considered a viable
contender in such a strong division.
LA: You know Bill, when I stated my career I never in my
wildest dreams expected things to go this well for me.
To have gone through all the things I have during my
career and still be recognized and mentioned in a
division like this is such a great honor. My hope to
become a Champion is still alive and I am going to do
everything I can to get another shot at the title.
P4P: Thanks Librado, we thank you for your time and wish
you the very best in your upcoming fight.
LA: Thank you Bill, and thank you to everyone who has
supported me throughout my career, that's Golden Boy, Al
Haymon, my trainers and most importantly my fans.
