Bute-Froch: In Nottingham, Or Nothing

By: Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - According different sources in Europe, the chances that a fight between the British Carl Froch and the Montrealer Romanian Lucian Bute, has no chance to happen at Bell Centre April 14th.

According this sources, Ed Hearn, Froch’s manager, said that Bute has to accept to defend his IBF super middleweight world championship in Nottingham, England, in May. If not, Froch will face another boxer in front of his fans.

Hearn, apparently, mentioned that a European network is ready to televise the Froch’s fight in May in Nottingham.

Originally, Froch was supposed to fight Bute at Bell Centre in Montréal April 14th, and get the rematch in Nottingham next summer, but Showtime refused the idea. Showtime, apparently, wants to finance a fight between Bute and the "Super Six" champion, the Californian Andre Ward, but not bouts between Bute and Froch.
