Dierry Jean Will Fight Rivera

MONTRÉAL - The new NABF super lightweight champion, the
Montrealer Dierry Jean, will defend his North American title
August 17th in Montréal, against the veteran Mexican boxer
May 19th, in the ring of the Holiday Inn hotel in
Pointe-Claire (west island of Montréal), Jean (22-0-0) won
the vacant NABF title in beating the Texan Lanardo Tyner
(25-8-2) by unanimous decision. Rivera (35-14-3) is a tough
fighter who lost by decision against Andre Berto (28-1-0)
and Joel Julio (37-4-0) in 2007 and 2006.
"Dierry is now ranked the 8th contender in the world by the
WBC, and his goal is to be in the Top five by the end of the
year," said the promoter Camille Estefan. "No doubt in my
mind that this fight with Rivera will help him to improve
his position in the world ratings."
The light heavyweights Nicholson Poulard (18-3-0) and
Schiller Hyppolite (4-0-0), the super featherweights Baham
Laham (9-0-0) and Chris Plaitis (1-0-0), and the super
welterweight Ahmad Cheiko (7-4-0), all from the Montréal
area, will be involved in the preliminary bouts of the
Camille Estefan will confirm the location of this pro boxing
show very soon.
