Yvon Michel: "If The Rematch
Dawson-Hopkins Fails, A Rematch Dawson-Pascal Will Happen"
By Daniel Cloutier
Montréal - The boss of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel, is
waiting a confirmation in the Dawson-Hopkins rematch’s file.
“If the negotiations failed in the file of the rematch
between Chad Dawson and Bernard Hopkins, Dawson will get a
rematch with Jean Pascal next June,” mentioned Yvon Michel
today. “Gary Shaw, who is the Dawson’s manager, told me that
Chad wants absolutely to get a rematch with Pascal, and it
will become a priority for us if the project of rematch
Dawson-Hopkins fails. We should know very soon.”
Major Fight For Adonis Stevenson
The Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson, who got the most
important win of his career December 10th at Bell Centre (he
stopped Aaron Pryor Jr.), will be involved in the main event
of the next boxing show of the serie “Rapides et Dangereux”,
February 18th at Bell Centre Theater.
“Adonis will fight one of the top super middleweight in the
world February 18th. We will confirm it this week. I am more
and more positive that Adonis will be involved in a world
championship fight this year.”
Stevenson is training at the Kronk GYM in Detroit. His
training is supervised by Emmanuel Steward.
The Colombian light heavyweight Eleider Alvarez (7-0-0), the
young middleweight David Lemieux (25-2-0) and the junior
welterweight Dierry Jean (20-0-0) will be involved in the
three most important preliminary’s bouts February 18th.
“In spite of his loss against Joachim Alcine in December,
Lemieux wanted to be in action as soon as possible,” said
Yvon Michel. “We are planning to give him action every month
this year. If he is showing us a good progression (in
energy), as we are expecting , we will give him a rematch
with Alcine before the end of the year.”
Bizier In March
Welterweight Kevin Bizier (17-0-0), of Québec City, who is
now ranked 13th in the world by the WBA, should fight at the
end of March in Québec City.
“We were planning to involve Kevin in the main event of our
show of February 25th in Québec City, but he has injured his
left hand in December, when he beat Lanardo Tyler (unanimous
decision) in a NABA North American championship. Kevin is
really important for us, when we organize a show in Québec
City. We have decided to postpone this show at the end of
March. We will confirm a date and an opponent very soon.
Kevin will certainly be ranked in the Top 10 in the world in
2012.”
