MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the Golden Boy Promotions, the former champion of the world Oscar De La Hoya, and the promoter of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group in Montréal, Camille Estephan, confirmed that the Montrealer middleweight David Lemieux (37-3-0) will face the Mexican Marcos Reyes (35-4-0) May 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, just before the presentation of the main event opposing the Mexicans Saul Canelo Alvarez (48-1-1) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1).

Lemieux just scored one of the most significant win of his pro boxing career. March 11th at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, Lemieux beat the New Yorker Curtis Stevens (29-6-0) by KO in the third round. It was a HBO After Dark boxing show.

Lemieux won this bout in connecting Stevens with a great power shot on the chin. Stevens was unconscious on the canvas. Stevens was escorted out of the ring on a stretcher. Few hours later, the New Yorker who was suffering of a severe concussion, received his release from the Verona Hospital.

“David got a fantastic performance at the Turning Stone Casino, and Oscar De La Hoya, agrees with me, wanted to have him back in the ring May 6th,” said Estephan. “I said yes, because David is in perfect shape, and he is extremely enthusiastic to take part to this major boxing show.”

Lemieux said: “The fight Alvarez-Chavez will be presented around the celebrations of «Cinco De Mayo«, and I am so motivated to take part to this event. I want absolutely to get another solid performance, May 6th, to increase my chances to face the winner of the fight Alvarez-Chavez.”
