Canadian champion, the Montrealer super middleweight Shakeel Phinn improved his pro record to 12-1-0 Thursday evening in the ring of the Montréal Casino, with a win by TKO over the Mexican Victor Palacios. The show was organized by the GYM Group, headed by the promoter Yvon Michel.

Phinn, who has Mike Tyson’s style, was clearly stronger physically than his rival, and better technically. Phinn attacked Palacios (13-14-2) furiously in each round, and he hurt him several times.

Palacios got a serious cut over to the right eye in the third round, and his trainers threw the towel at the end of this round.

The welterweight Bruno Bredicean, from Cape Coral, Florida, scored his seventh win in pro boxing (7-0-0), in beating the Mexican Alejandro Herrera (16-6-2) by TKO at the end of the fifth round. Herrera surrounded before the beginning of the last round.

Bredicean, who has the brothers Howard and Otis Grant as trainers, was faster than his opponent, and better technically. In the last three rounds, Bredicean gave a very hard time to the Mexican.

The Montrealer super middleweight Patrice Volny increased his record to 5-0-0, in becoming the first fighter to beat Louisbert Altidor (5-1-0), from Ottawa (the Canadian capital). Volny won by majority decision of the judges in six rounds (57-57, 59-55 and 57-56).

In the only female fight of the evening, the Montrealer welterweight Marie-Eve Dicaire stayed undefeated in seven pro bouts (7-0-0), with a victory by unanimous decision over Lisa Noel Garland (15-7-0), from York, South Carolina.

In the opening bout of the evening, the super middleweight Christian M’Billi, the last acquisition of the GYM Group, got impressive pro debut. He beat the Mexican Adrian Arenas (2-5-0) by KO in the second round. M’Billi finished the fight with two great body punches.
