Stevenson & Fonfara Rematch Set For June 3

MONTRÉAL — The promoter of the GYM group in Montréal, Yvon Michel, will confirm in the next days that his WBC light heavyweight champion of the world, the Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson, will face Andzej Fonfara, from Chicago, June 3rd, probably at Bell Centre in Montréal. It will be a rematch.

May 24th 2014 at Bell Centre, Stevenson (28-1-0) beat Fonfara (29-4-0) by unanimous decision in 12 rounds.After the bout, Fonfara was clearly frustrated by the result of the fight.

There are a possibility that the semi-final of this boxing will opposed two Montrealers light heavyweights, Jean Pascal (31-4-1) and Eleider Alvarez (22-0-0).

November 24th at the Vidéotron Centre in Québec, Alvarez, a Colombian living in Montréal, beat the former IBF super middleweight champion of the world, the Montrealer Romanian Lucian Bute (32-4-1), by KO in the fifth round.

Alvarez is ranked first contender by the WBC in the 175 pounds division.
