Beterbiev vs. Johnson In New York Or Chicago
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - The IBF light heavyweight champion of the world,
the Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev, will defend his
title against the Scottish Callum Johnson October 6th in New
York or Chicago. Johnson (17-0-0) is ranked eight contender
by the IBF in the 175 pounds division.
Beterbiev (12-0-0) became IBF champion of the world November
11th in Fresno, California, in beating the German Enrico
Koelling (26-2-0) by TKO in the 12th and last round.
Last year, Beterbiev tried to break his contract with the
GYM Group in Montréal, but a couple of weeks ago, the civil
court in Montréal forced him to return with the Yvon
Michel's organization. However, the Beterbiev’s lawyer said
he will contest this verdict in the Canadian Superior Court.
