Beterbiev Will Now Work With Two Promoters

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL — The IBF light heavyweight champion of the world, the Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev, will now work with two promoters. As decided recently by the Québec civil court, Beterbiev has to stay associated to the GYM Group in Montréal.

Beterbiev will still try to break the contract he signed with the promoter Yvon Michel in 2013. His lawyer has decided to go in appeal in the Québec Superior Court.

Sunday, Beterbiev announced he will have his next three bouts with the organization of the British promoter Eddie Hearn… but Hearn will be obliged to work in partnership with Yvon Michel, until the decision by the Québec Superior Court.

Beterbiev (12-0-0) is supposed to defend his title October 6th in New York or Chicago. He won the vacant IBF 175 pounds title last November in Fresno, California, in beating the German Enrico Koelling (26-2-0) by TKO in the 12th and last round.
