  Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Bivol vs. Pascal Is On

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - According to different sources, the former WBC light heavyweight champion of the world, the Montrealer Jean Pascal, will face the WBA light heavyweight champion of the world, the Russian Dmitry Bivol, November 24th in Atlantic City. At his last bout, August 4th at the Hard Rock Hotel-Casino in Atlantic City, Bivol (14-0-0) made a successful defense of his world title, in beating the South African Issac Chilemba (25-6-2) by unanimous decision. On his side, Pascal (33-5-1) won his last fight in July at Place Bell in Laval (a Montréal northern suburb) against the UFC fighter Steve Bossé (1-1-0), by TKO in the eight round. Bivol is considered actually as the most talented fighter of the 175 pounds division.

According several boxing writers in Canada, USA and Europe, Pascal is taking a tremendous risk in challenging Bivol. Bivol, who scored 11 KO or TKO in his 14 pro bouts, has a great technique offensively and defensively, and he is punching solidly with both hands.
