  Cinco De Mayo Weekend Action
Kicks Off In Reno Friday

By Simon Ruvalcaba

Philadelphia promoter Russell Peltz when getting calls from Managers wanting to match there fighters soft or looking for a tune-up bout is known to answer with something to the effect of "If you want a tune-up? Go to Midas!" Peltz is known for putting on exciting events featuring competitive match-ups. Let's Get It On Promotions' Tommy Lane is taking a page from Peltz as he has put together a show Friday night that features Reno, Nevada local and regional fighters in bouts where no victory will come easy for the crowd favorites at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center.

In the Main Event, Reno Super Flyweight Oscar 'Chapito' Vasquez 15-1 (3) aims for a top ten ranking and future title opportunity against 19 year old Riverside, CA prospect Ricardo 'El Nino' Sandoval 12-1 (8). Boxing betting tips would have Vasquez as the favorite. The confident Sandoval is returning to Reno where he upset Olympic alternate Brent Venegas last November. The bout is scheduled for 8 rounds and features fighters that come forward and aren't afraid to take one to give two, which makes up the ingredients for a great scrap.

In the co-main event, Sacramento, California cruiserweight and Army Iraq War Veteran Blake 'The Beast' McKernan 7-0 (5) looks to remain unbeaten and add his first belt against Mexico's Daniel Arambula 4-2 (1) in a scheduled 8 round bout for the W.B.U. title.

In a 6 round Light Flyweight bout, Oscar's Brother Santos Vasquez 5-2-1 (3) faces Puerto Rico's Bryan Aquino 11-2 (5). Vasquez, an amateur stand out, looks for his 4th straight victory after a slow start to his pro career.

Heavyweight Prospect Frank Sanchez Faure 6-0 (6) faces rugged veteran Lamont Capers 9-12-4 (1) in a six round bout.

In a 4 round lightweight bout, Carson City, Nevada's Diego Elizondo 2-0 looks to use his footwork and fast southpaw hands to stay unbeaten against Canton Miller 3-1 (1).

Reno Featherweight Ricardo 'The Dreamer' Lucio-Galvan, a University of Nevada Business student and one of America's many 'dreamers' in this country has been getting alot of local headlines and is scheduled to be on the card Friday. However, matching Ricardo up for the show has been a challenge with several potential opponents either pulling out or declining the bout. As of press time, no opponent has been confirmed for Lucio-Galvan.

Tickets for the event, which is hosted by the Atlantis Casino Resort, range from $35-$100 with not a bad seat in the house! Doors open at 6 P.M. with the first bout is scheduled for 7 P.M.
