Cloutier's Canada Corner
Because Of His Wedding, Lafrenière Won’t
Get His Rematch With Onolunose July 20th
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL — The Montrealer middleweight Francis Lafrenière
was supposed to get a rematch with the Canadian Nigerian
Albert Onolulose July 20th at Place Bell in Laval (Montréal
northern suburb) just before the fight between the Montrealers cruiser-weights Jean Pascal and Steve Bossé, but
he circonstances forced him to cancel this NABO North
American 160 pounds championship. Trained by the brothers
Howard and Otis Grant at the Monster Gym in Dorval (West
Island of Montréal), Lafrenière cancelled his fight because
he will get married July 21st.
Originally, the event was supposed to be presented June
29th, but the the GYM Group has been obliged to postponed
it, because the Steve Bossé’s boxing license was expired.
The promoter of the event, Yvon Michel, will try to
re-organize this rematch Lafrenière-Onolunose in few months.
A fighter living in Calgary, Alberta, Onolunose (23-1-1)
beat Lafrenière (16-6-2) by majority decision of the judges
last March at the Montréal Casino.
