David Lemieux Next Fight In Québec City

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer middleweight David Lemieux was expecting to have his next fight May 5th in Carson, California, on the same card than the WBC, WBA and IBF middleweight champion of the world, Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1), from Kazakstan. But the promoter of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group in Montréal, Camille Estephan, who is the Lemieux's manager, said no.

Estephan mentioned that Lemieux will have his next bout May 26th at the Vidéotron Centre in Québec City. Apparently, Estephan is preparing a press conference at the Vidéotron Centre.

Lemieux, who injured seriously his left shoulder at his last two fights, said he is ready to go back in action. At his last bout, December 16th at Place Bell in Laval (Montréal northern suburb), Lemieux lost by unanimous decision against the British Billy Joe Saunders (26-0-0), the WBO middleweight champion of the world.

Two days after the bout, Lemieux meet the medias and revealed that he injured his left shoulder in the second minute of the bout, a situation forcing him to fight Saunders with only one hand.

Saunders replied to the British boxing writers: “Lemieux found the good excuse to discredit my win against him. He is an asshole.”
