N'tetu Suffers His Worst Loss In Brooklyn

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL —— The light heavyweight Francy Ntetu, a fighter from Congo, Africa, living in Chicoutimi, Québec, suffered the worst loss of his pro boxing career Monday night at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York.

Ntetu (17-2-0) lost by TKO in the first round against the undefeated New Yorker Marcus Browne (21-0-0). A boxer of 35 years old, Ntetu will probably stop his boxing career in the weeks to come.

Browne provoked a knockdown after one minute of action in the bout with a solid hook on the head. Ntetu got back on his legs, but Browne maintained his intense attacks, forcing the referee to stop the fight. Ntetu looked seriously hurt when the fight has been stopped.

Browne is considered as one of the most important fighters in the 175 pounds division on the international boxing scene. Browne is ranked second contender by the WBO, third by the WBC and the IBF, and seventh by the WBA. He will probably have a world championship bout before the end of the year.
