Rexa Group Cancels June 15 Boxing Show
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - Francis Lafrenière (16-6-2), a middleweight from
Côteau-du-Lac, a city located in the West Island of
Montréal, was supposed to get a rematch with Albert
Onolunose (22-1-1), a Nigerian living in Calgary, Alberta,
June 15th at the Tohu Bar in Montréal, but the Rexa Group,
the organizer of the event, cancelled this boxing show.
The rematch Lafrenière-Onolunose will be presented June 29th
at Place Bell in Laval, when the former WBC light
heavyweight champion of the world, the Montrealer Jean
Pascal (32-5-), will face the former UFC champion, Steve
Bossé (1-0-0), from Saint-Jean-sur Richelieu, Québec, in the
main event of a boxing show presented by the GYM Group.
Onolunose beat Lafrenière by unanimous decision last March
at the Montréal Casino.
Apparently, the Rexa Group cancelled the show because most
of the boxing writers working in Montréal will be in
Shawinigan that day, because the following night, the
heavyweight Simon Kean (14-0-0), from Trois-Rivières, will
fight the former football player, Adam Braithwood (12-1-0),
from Delta, British Columbia, in the main event of a boxing
organized by The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group, at the
Gervais Car Centre in Shawinigan.
Shawinigan is located at 15 miles of Trois-Rivières, the
historic city located at midway between Montréal and Québec
