Purse Bid For Stevenson vs. Gvozdyk

MONTRÉAL - The WBC championship committee will hold a purse bid July 2nd in Mexico, for the WBC light heavyweight championship of the world opposing the Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson to his first WBC contender, the Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

Stevenson was hoping to get a rematch with the Swedish African Badou Jack, but the WBC ordered him to fight before his first contender.

Gvozdyk is undefeated in 15 bouts (15-0-0), and he won 12 times by KO or TKO. Stevenson (29-1-1) on his side, won 24 times by KO or TKO. The Montrealer is considered as one of the best puncher pound for pound in the world.

May 19th in the ring the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Stevenson and Badou Jack (22-1-3) dominate each one six rounds, and the bout finished by a majority draw. Two of the three judges scored the fight 114-114.

After the event, Stevenson and Badou Jack mentioned both their strong desire to get a rematch.

We can expect a rematch Stevenson-Jack at the end of the year or next year.
