  Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Stevenson vs. Jack Will Be Presented
On May 19 At The Videotron Centre

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM Group, Yvon Michel, and the Showtime network, will confirm in the next days that the WBC light heavyweight championship of the world opposing the Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson and the Swedish African Badou Jack, will be presented May 19th at the Videotron Centre in Québec City. Stevenson (29-1-0) holds the WBC 175 pounds world title since 2013.

Recently, the WBC championship committee confirmed its decision to sanction a fight Stevenson-Jack, but the winner will be obliged to fight next the Montrealer Eleider Alvarez (23-0-0), who is the mandatory challenger for the WBC light heavyweight championship of the world since a year and a half.

Originally, Stevenson was supposed to face Alvarez, but this fight is postponed to next summer… if Stevenson keeps his title against Badou Jack.

Apparently, Alvarez will be involved in this boxing show, but at this point, we don’t know who will be his next opponent. The GYM Group and Showtime should confirm this event in the next days or next week.
