Camille Estephan: "The Boxing Fans
Will See Great Action Friday Evening"

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group, the Montrealer Camille Estephan, is extremely enthusiastic just a few hours before his boxing show in Québec City. Estephan will present a pro boxing show Friday night at the “Complexe Capitale Helicoptere” in Québec City, a building located beside the Québec City International Airport. It will the first time that a pro boxing show is organized at this place.

The main event will opposed the Montrealer Russian super welterweight (154 pounds) Artem Oganesyan (10-0-0) to the Argentinian Jose Carlos Paz (23-10-1).

At the weigh in supervised by the Québec Athletic Commission (Régie provinciale des sports de combat) Thursday afternoon at the Complexe Capitale Helicoptere, Oganesyan and Paz posted identical officials weights of 153.6 pounds.

“No doubt in my mind, it will be the toughest fight of my pro boxing career,” said Oganesyan. “Paz has a lot of experience. But I got a great preparation for this challenge, and I will try everything to stay undefeated. I got a great training camp.”

Paz replied: “I am determinate to become the first fighter to beat Oganesyan. I know he is a good fighter, but I am too. I will fight with intensity to try to put him in trouble. I know I have the technique, the power and the energies to win this bout.”

The super middleweight (168 pounds) Lexon Mathieu (6-0-0), from Québec City, the Montrealer Russian super welterweight Sadriddin Akhmedov (9-0-0), the super lightweight (140 pounds) Steve Claggett (27-6-2), from Calgary, Alberta, the super welterweight Clovis Drolet (10-0-0), from Québec City, the Russian middleweight Andrei Efremenko (1-0-0), the light heavyweight (175 pounds) Hubert Poulin and the female super featherweight (130 pounds) Leila Beaudoin, who will make both their pro debut, will be involved in the preliminaries bouts of the evening.

Mathieu will fight the Italian Giovanni Carpentieri (8-3-3), Akhmedov will face the Mexican Johnny Navarrete (33-15-3), Claggett will challenge the Argentinian Nazareno Gaston Ruiz (34-18-0), Drolet will fight the Jamaican Richard Holmes (18-10-0), Efremenko will face the Argentinian Abel Nicolas Adriel (23-19-3), Poulin will challenge the Mexican Francisco Lagunes (1-3-0), and finally, Beaudoin will start her pro boxing career in fighting the Czech Tereza Dvorakova (0-1-0).

“It will be a spectacular boxing show,” said Estephan at the weigh in, “The boxing fans will see great action. We worked hard to book intense bouts. Several of our fighters could become stars in boxing in the next two or three years. Most of them has a great potential. I really believe that most of them will be ranked in the world in few years. Believe me, the atmosphere will fe fantastic Friday evening.”

The Estephan’s assistant, the former boxer Anthonin Décarie said: “I hope that the boxing fans will drive in time for this boxing show, because I am agree with Camille Estephan, this boxing show will generate of lot of action, from the beginning to the end.”

At the weigh in, Mathieu posted an official weight of 169.8 pounds, Carpentieri 169, Akhmedov 156, Navarrete 154.6, Claggett 141.4, Riuiz 139.4, Drolet 156, Holmes 154.6, Efremenko 159.2, Adriel 157.2, Poulin 179.4, Lagunes 178.4, Beaudoin 134.2 and Flores 132 pounds.
