Makhmudov Hopes To See His Name In The
Top 10 Of The International Boxing Ratings

MONTRÉAL — In few hours. the Montrealer heavyweight Russian Arlansbek Makhmudov, a giant of 6’6’’ with 262 pounds of muscles, will have the most important bout of his pro boxing career. Saturday afternoon in the ring of the Montreal Casino Cabaret, Makhmudov will be involved in a NABF North American championship (10 rounds). Makhmudov (8-0-0) will face the Mexican Julian Fernandez (14-1-0) in this North American championship.

“No doubt, it’s the most significant bout of my pro boxing career,” said Makhmudov at the weigh in held at the Montreal Casino. “In winning this fight, my name should appear in the international boxing ratings in the weeks to come. When a fighter is ranked, he has the chance to get an opportunity to fight in a world championship fight.”

The Makhmudov’s trainer, Marc Ramsay, said: “My fighter got a very good preparation, and I am expecting a solid performance like usual. But Fernandez is an aggressive fighter, then, we can expect sparks is most of the rounds. This fight is crucial, because a NABF North American championship is a step for a spot in the Top 10 or Top 15 of the international boxing ratings.”

At the weigh in supervised by the Quebec Athletic Commission (Régie provinciale des sports de combat), Makhmudov posted an official weight of 262 pounds, versus 220.8 for Fernandez.

Makhmudov won all his pro bouts by KO or TKO. On his side, Fernandez won 10th times by KO or TKO.

The Montrealer super lightweight (140 pounds) Mathieu Germain (17-0-1), the super middleweight (168 pounds) Lexon Mathieu (5-0-0), from Québec City, the Montrealer Russian cruiserweight (190 pounds) Artur Ziyatdinov (10-0-0), the welterweight (147 pounds) Sébastien Roy, from Thetford Mines, Québec, and the Montrealer Russian super bantamweight (120 pounds), Vislan Dalkhaev (11-1-0) will be involved in the preliminaries bouts of this boxing show organized by the promoter Camille Estephan, from The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group in Montréal.

Germain will fight the Mexican Uriel Perez (18-4-0), Mathieu will face the Mexican Juan Sergio Torres Perez (7-8-0), Ziyatdinov will challenge the American Darnell Boone (24-24-5), from Atlanta, Georgia, Roy will be opposed to Larone Whyte (6-3-0), from Toronto, and Dalkhaev will fight the Mexican Oscar Mata (8-4-1).

At the weigh in, Germain posted an official weight of 141.6 pounds, Perez 141.2, Mathieu 167.2, Perez 166.4, Ziyatdinov 179.6, Boone 179.6, Roy 144.6, Whyte 142.2, Dalkhaev 123.8 and finally, Mata 123 pounds.

The first fight of this boxing show will be presented 30 minutes after noon.
