Ulysse Will Fight Barroso Dec. 5 In Los Angeles

MONTRÉAL —— WBA mandatory challenger in the super lightweight (140 pounds) division, the Montrealer Yves Ulysse Jr. (18-1-0) will have his next bout December 5th in Los Angeles, against the former WBA champion of the world, the Venezualian Ismael Barroso (21-3-2). This fight will be presented at the Costa Mesa Arena in the Orange County.

“I got a great preparation, mentally, physically, technically and strategically, and I am positive I am gonna win this bout,” said Ulysse Jr. few hours ago in Montréal. “I know I have the speed to dominate the action, and my punches are very accurate. My opponent has the reputation to be a dangerous puncher, but I am not worried at all. I know I have the chin and the talent to win significant fights».

Ulysse hopes to dispute a world championship bout in 2020, but he knows he got absolutely to win this fight with Barroso.”

Barroso replied: “If the people around Ulysse thinks he will surprise me, they will have a big surprise. No doubt in my mind, I am gonna win this fight by KO or TKO. No doubt, I have the power to hurt Ulysse in each round. It’s not him but me who will be in position to have a world championship bout.”

Barroso won 21 bouts by KO or TKO, Ulysses nine.

The Montrealer businessman Camille Estephan, the Ulysse’s promoter said: “This bout is crucial for Yves Ulysse Jr., and I am positive he will do the necessary to win it. Yves knows that a win over Barroso will give him a first opportunity too dispute a world championship bout. Oscar De La Hoya and I will work seriously to organize a world championship bout for Ulysse Jr. in 2020.”

Just before the main event, the middleweight D’Mitrus Ballard (20-0-0), from Temple Hills, Maryland, will face the Brazilian Yamaguchi Falcao (16-1-0) in a NABF 160 pounds North American championship. The promoter of the Golden Boy Promotions organization in Los Angeles, the former champion of the world Oscar De La Hoya, said that the winner of this fight will be in position to have a participation to a world championship bout in 2020.

This December 5th boxing show will be organized by the Golden Boy Promotions organization.
