Whyte Fails Drug Test;
Whyte vs. Rivas Rematch Very Possible

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Colombian Oscar Rivas (26-1-0) requires a rematch with the British Dilliian Whyte (26-1-0), and he is right in the circumstances.

Whyte, who became the first fighter to beat Rivas in pro boxing last weekend in London, England (unanimous decision of the judges in a WBC elimination heavyweight bout), failed a drug test few hours before the fight with Rivas. Why the London Athletic Commission allowed Whyte to fight Rivas in these conditions? Nobody can answer this question.

Rivas promoter, Yvon Michel, will call the WBC to be sure that a rematch will be organized. “I really hope to get a rematch with Whyte,” said Rivas. “No doubt I am deserving to get this rematch, because my opponent failed a drug test. I am positive that I can beat him in normal conditions. Whyte, in this circumstances, does not deserve to fight the WBC heavyweight champion of the world, Deonty Wilder.”
