Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Beterbiev Forced To Postpone
His Next Bout Due To COVID
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev, the WBC
and IBF light heavyweight (175 pounds) champion of the
world, is obliged to postpone his next bout, scheduled for
January 30th in Moscow.
Beterbiev (15-0-0) was supposed to fight the German Adam
Deines (19-1-1) but was informed Monday evening that he was
suffering of the Coronavirus.
Beterbiev will be obliged to take a rest and stay in home
for several weeks. “It’s very sad, but I will be forced to
take a rest before getting back in action,” said Beterbiev.
“I am so impatient to be back in the ring.”
This fight Beterbiev-Deines should be postponed until the
beginning of the spring.
Beterbiev did not fight since October 2019, since his
significant win by TKO in the 10th round in Philadelphia
against the Ukrainian Aleksandr Gvozdyk who suffered that
night his first loss in pro boxing (17-1-0).
