Kean: “I Will Destroy Martz”
Bazinyan: "It’s Crucial For Me To Stay Undefeated"

RIMOUSKI, Québec - The heavyweight Simon Kean, from Trois-Rivières, Québec, and the Montrealer super middleweight Erik Bazinyan, will be involved in the two main fights of the boxing show presented by the promoter Camille Estephan, from The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group in Montréal, Friday evening at the Sun Life Rimouski Arena.

Kean (18-1-0 ) will dispute a WBC International Silver championship in fighting the American Daniel Martz (19-8-1), from Virginia State.

The referee of the main event will be the Montrealer Mike Griffin, and the judges will be Guy Giard, Paquale Procopio and Benoit Russell, all from Montréal.

Just before this fight, Bazinyan (24-0-0), who its ranked fourth contender by the WBO fun the super middleweight division (168 pounds), will face Timo Laine (27-12-0), from Finland.

The two main fights are scheduled for 10 rounds.

“I got a great preparation for this fight, mentally, physically, technically and strategically, and I am determinate to destroy Daniel Martz,” said Kean, “I will fight intensively from the beginning to the end, and I believe I gonna win before the 10th round.”

Martz replied: “Me too I got a great preparation for this bout, and I m positive I will be the winner. Kean has a a good record, then, Il will certainly help my situation in beating him. I came in Canada to surprise Kean and I am sure I will do it.”

Bazinyan, who really hopes to dispute a world championship bout next year, looks on fire at few days of the moment of the truth.

“It’s a crucial bout for me, for the sample reason that I got to stay undefeated to get an opportunity to dispute a world championship bout in 2021,” said Bazinyan. “I will fight with intensity and concentration, and I really expect to be in the winning’s corner.”

Laine, obviously, hopes to surprise Bazinyan. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me, said Laine. Bazinyan has a perfect record and he is rank in the world. I know how much he is good, but I am extremely tough, and I believe I will surprise him.”

The referee of the bout Bazinyan-Laine will be Steve Saint-Germain, and the judges Nicolas Esias, Jean Gauthier and Marie-Josée Guérin, all Montrealers.

Camille Estephan said: “It’s a very important event for our organization. We will have nine bouts, and several fighters in action on this boxing show are considered as real good prospects in pro boxing. And I am positive that the crowd will appreciate the show.”

At the weigh in, supervised by the Quebec Athletic Commission (Régie provinciale des sports de combat), Kean posted an official weight of 237 pounds, Martz 261.4, Bazionyan 169 and Laine 1694 pounds.

The Montrealer Russian super welterweight (154 pounds) Artem Oganesyan (11-0-0), the super featherweight (130 pounds) Thomas Chabot (1-0-0), from Thetford Mines, Québec, the welterweight (147 pounds) Sébastien Roy (8-0-0), also from Thetford Mines, the Montrealer Russian light heavyweight (175 pounds) Nurzat Sabirov (10-0-0), the super middleweight Mathieu Duguay, from Québec City, who will make his pro debut, the light heavyweight Hubert Poulin (1-0-0), from Québec City, and the female super featherweight Leila Beaudoin (1-0-0), also from Québec City, will be involved in the preliminaries bouts of the evening.

Oganesyan will fight the French Arabic Fouad El Massoudi (17-12-0), Chabot will face the Mexican Luz Marcos Garcia (2-2-2), Roy will be opposed to the Montrealer Haitian Flavio Michel (9-5-0), Sabirov will challenge the Mexican Ricardo Adrian Luna Flores (22-7-1), Duguay will fight the Mexican Armando Morales Gutierrez (0-1-0), Poulin will face the Mexican Eduardo Valencia Aguilar (2-4-0), and finally, Beaudoin will challenge the Mexican Maria Esther Del Angel Diaz (1-0-0).

At the weigh in, Oganezyan posted an official weight of 155.4 pounds, El Massoudi 155.4, Chabot 129.4, Garcia 129.2, Roy 146.6, Michel 146, Sabirov 171.6, Flores 171.4, Duguay 166.4, Gutierrez 164.6 Poulin 178.4, Aguilar 178.6, Beaudoin 132.4 and finally, Diaz 130.4 pounds.
