Welterweight Evan Anthony Sanchez (7-0, 5 KO’s)
impressed the fans with a spectacular KO over Daniel
Evangelista Jr (20-12-2, 16 KO’s). Wasting no time the
skilled southpaw dropped Evangelista midway through
round one with a picture left hook. Evangelista got to
his feet and survived the round but the bout was going
to end soon. Looking sharp Sanchez again went to work.
After doing damage both to the body and head another
left hook was the final blow. Sanchez crushed
Evangelista forcing the ref to halt the bout at the 1:52
mark of round two.
Lightweight Alejandro Reyes (2-0, 2 KO’s) and Nelson
Colon (4-1, 3 KO’s) went at it in another Mexico vs.
Puerto Rico, “Quien es mas Macho” battle. Although both
men have good KO records this one went the four round
distance. In the end Reyes took the battle on the
scorecards 40-36 twice and 39-37 giving him the
unanimous decision nod.
Super Middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev (5-0, 4 KO’s)
dismantled a hapless Oscar Cortes (27-6, 14 KO’s) in the
first round of a lopsided affair. Cortes was the literal
version of a human punching bag. The bout didn’t last 3
minutes. Melikuziev landed a blow off the soft
underbelly of Cortes and his night was over.
Super Featherweight Tenochtitlan Nava (7-2-1, 1 KO) and
Anthony Casillas (8-1-1, 4 KO’s) opened the show with a
no holds slugfest. The two fighters were punches in
bunches for the entire six round scrap that was a great
starter to the night. Final scores gave Nava a razor
thin unanimous victory on all cards 58-56.
