Marie-Eve Dicaire: "It’s The Biggest Challenge
Of My Career And I Am Ready For It"

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL – Quebec’s Marie-Eve Dicaire will take part in a major fight March 5th in Flint, Michigan, when she faces the American Claressa Shields, who won two gold medals at the Olympics in boxing.

Dicaire (17-0-0) the IBF Super Welterweight World Champion and Shields (10-0-0) the current WBC/WBO Super Welterweight World champion will face off in a 10-round 154-pound unification showdown.

“It’s the biggest challenge of my career, and I am ready to face it,” said Dicaire. “I don’t want to miss this crucial experience in my life. I had great preparation and I expect to deliver a great performance in Flint. I don’t want to waste such a great opportunity. It’s a huge event for me.”

Shields is very confident to remain undefeated. “I know that Dicaire has more experience than me in pro boxing, but I really believe I have the weapons necessary to win this fight,” said Shields, a female fighter from Flint. “Dicaire believes she will stay undefeated, but I am positive I will surprise her on March 5th in my city. I am taking her very seriously, just watch me when the action will starts.”

Shields’s trainer, the former world champion John David Jackson, said, “It’s a marvelous matchup between Dicaire and my fighter. I am more than confident to see Claressa win this fight. I know she had a great training camp. She is taking this event very seriously.”

Dicaire’s trainer, the Montrealer Stéphane Arnois, replied, “Marie-Eve had the greatest training of her career, physically, technically and mentally, and I am positive she will deliver a fantastic performance March 5th. I am expecting a marvelous fight March 5th, and I believe that my fighter will be in the winning corner.”

When Dicaire was asked by www.Pound4Pound.com if she saw Shields in action, Dicaire said, “Yes. She is fast and intelligent in the ring, but I really believe I can surprise her. I am expecting to deliver the greatest performance of my career. Like I said, I don’t want to waste the greatest challenge of my career.”

Dicaire’s promoter, Yvon Michel, the president of the GYM Group in Montréal, said, “I am so anxious to see this fight get started. It will be my 65th world championship as promoter, and I am positive we will proud of Marie-Eve that night.”

The promoter of the event, Dmitry Salita, replied, “Its a matchup between two undefeated female boxers, and I am expecting a great event. Claressa is always good in the ring, and I really believe she will be victorious on March 5th.”

Dicaire has never won by KO or TKO in pro boxing, but Shields has won twice by KO. “I really want to win this fight by KO or TKO, but we will see how Dicaire will react when I connect with power punches,” said Shields. “I will be intense and have complete focus from the beginning to the end of this fight. I could not be more prepared than I am now for the fight”.
