By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL—— The promoter of the GYM Group in Montréal, Yvon Michel, confirmed that the Montrealer Colombian Oscar Rivas will dispute his first world championship bout October 22nd at the Olympia Theater in Montréal. Rivas (27-1-0) and the American Bryant Jennings (24-4-0), from Philadelphia, will fight for the vacant WBC bridgerweight (224 pounds) world championship.

Rivas is ranked first contender by the WBC in the bridgerweight, and Jennings is ranked third contender. Rivas was ranked fifth contender in the heavyweight division few weeks ago, but he has decided to move down in the bridgerweight, a division perfectly adapted for his natural weight.

At his last bout, March 16th at the Plaza Hotel in Québec City, Rivas beat the Montrealer Silver Louis (7-2-0) by TKO in the third round. Right after this bout, he mentioned his dream to dispute a world championship bout. He will realize his dream October 22nd. This fight Rivas-Jennings is a rematch.
