  Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Rematch For Rivas vs. Louis

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Colombian bridgerweight Oscar Rivas will have a rematch with the Montrealer Syvera Louis March 16th at the Québec Plaza Hotel. In 2012, Rivas beat Louis by split decision at Bell Centre in Montréal. The fight was extremely close.

“I am very optimistic for this rematch,” said Rivas. “I know that I am faster and stronger than I was in the past. I won my first fight with Louis by split decision, but I want a clear win this time. I will fight with a perfect concentration from the beginning to the end of the bout. I will go in the ring with a great preparation, mentally, physically and technically. I know that I am closer than ever to a participation to a world championship bout, then, I need to win this rematch. It’s my goal to have a world championship bout. I got to keep my first place in the WBC bridgerweight division.”

The president of the GYM Group in Montréal, Yvon Michel, said: “I am positive that Oscar will deliver a great performance March 16th. The first fight between Oscar and Syvera Louis was close, but I believe that Oscar is gonna win it clearly this time. He knows that a crucial bout for him.”

Rivas (26-1-0) is ranked first contender by the WBC, the only boxing organization which has the bridgetweight division (224 pounds)
