Rivas Will Fight Rozicki Oct. 22 In Montréal

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM Group in Montréal, Yvon
Michel, confirmed that he found a new opponent for the
Montrealer Columbian Oscar Rivas. Rivas (27-1-0) will face
the Canadian Ryan Rozicki (13-0-0) in a WBC Bridgerweight
(224 pounds) world championship October 22nd at the Olympia
Theater in Montréal.
Rozicki is from Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. Rivas is ranked
first contender by the WBC in this division, Rozicki is
ranked 18th contender.
Originally, Rivas was supposed to face the American Bryant
Jennings (24-4-0), but the fight has been cancelled by the
Régie québécoise de boxe, because Jennings, a fighter from
Philadelphia, refused to get a vaccination for the Covid-19.
In the preliminaries bouts of the evening, October 22nd, the
welterweight (147 pounds) Sébastien Bouchard (19-2-0), from
Baie Saint-Paul, Québec, will fight the Mexican Sergio
The heavyweight Alexis Barrière (3-0-0), from Saint-Jean sur
Richelieu, Québec, will be opposed to the Mexican Rafael
Sanchez Rojas (5-1-0).
The Montrealer light heavyweight (175 pounds) Alexandre
Roberge (1-1-0) will dispute a rematch against Francis
Charbonneau (3-1-0), from Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec.
In the first fight between Roberge and Charbonneau, disputed
in March at the Plaza Hotel in Québec City, Roberge won the
bout by split decision in six rounds.
