Beterbiev Stays Undefeated

MONTREAL, Canada - The Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev
stayed undefeated Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in
New York, beating Joe Smith Jr., from Long Island, by TKO in
the second round. Beterbiev has now a pro record of 18-0-0,
18 wins by KO or TKO. Smith has a pro record of 28-4-0.
Beterbiev attacked intensively in the first round, and Smith
look in serious trouble in the second round.
In the second round, Beterbiev maintained his intense
attacks, he hurt seriously Smith, and the referee intervened
to declare Smith TKO’d
.
“I floored Smith in the first round, and I knew at that
moment that I could win in the second round,” said Beterbiev
after the bout. “And I did. I still the aggressor in the
second round, and the referee who saw Smith in serious
trouble, intervened to declare him TKO.”
Beterbiev is WBC, WBO and IBF light heavyweight (175 pounds)
champion of the world. Dmitry Bivol, a Russian who is living
in California, in WBA champion of the world.
“My goal is to become unified champion of the world,” said
Beterbiev. “I really hope to face Bivol eventually to become
unify champion of the world.”
