Germain Stops Angulo In The Last Round

MONTRÉAL, Canada - The Montrealer welterweight (147 pounds) Mathieu Germain improved his pro record to 20-2-0 Friday evening at the Montréal Casino, with a win by TKO in the eight and last round against the Mexican Ertiock Onzunza Angulo (8-3-0).

In the first round, Germain attacked intensively and he dominated the action.

The second round was intense, each fighter attacked aggressively. Germain finished the round with a severe cut over the left eye.

The third round was close, each fighter got his good moments offensively.

The fourth round was spectacular and no doubt that Germain got the best punches of the round.

In the fifth round, Germain was aggressive and he dominated clearly the round.

The sixth round was intense and close. Each fighter got great moments offensively.

Germain attacked furiously in the seventh round and he put his opponent in trouble.

In the eight and las round, Germain sent his opponent on the floor. Right after, Germain maintained his intense attacks and the referee intervened to declare Angulo TKO.

“My opponent won several fights by KO or TKO, but in this fight,. I attacked intensively and look the result,” said Germain. “I hope to get significant bouts in the next months.”

The light heavyweight (175 pounds) Daniel Beaupré, from Halifax, Nova Scotia,. won his second pro bout (2-0-0), in winning by KO after only 14 seconds of action, against the Montrealer Daniel Pomerleau, who was disputing his first pro bout.

“I am very proud to win this fight in 14 seconds,” said Beaupré. “I was perfectly prepared for this challenge and the result is fantastic.”

In the opening bout of the evening, the Montrealer heavyweight Alexis Barrière improved his pro record to 5-0-0, in beating the Mexican Israel Nava Lopez by TKO.

In the secound round, Barrière provoked a knockdown.

At the end of the second round, the referee stopped the bout and Barrière won by TKO.

“I got a strategy for this bout and the result is great,” said Barrière after the bout.

The welterweight (147 pounds) Ukrainian Californian Taras Shelestuck, a southpaw, and the Colombian Gabriel Maestre fought 10 rounds and the fight finished by a draw.

Shalestuck has now a pro record of 19-0-1, and Baestre has a pro record of 4-0-1.

In the only female bout of the evening, the Montrealer flyweight (112 pounds) Kim Clavel improved her pro record to 15-0-0, with a win by TKO in four rounds over the Bolivian Mariela Ribera Valverde (11-7-0).

Clavel won easily the first four rounds, then, her opponent surrounded after this fourth round.
