Gary
Woolcombe and Brian Magee
Added To "Payback Or Playback" Frank Maloney has added two solid supporting bouts to the hotly anticipated Commonwealth Bantamweight title rematch between reigning champion Tshifhiwa Munyai and British titlist Martin Power at Goresbrook LC in Dagenham, England on Friday 26 January. The promoter announced that Welling's Gary "Hot Stuff" Woolcombe will meet dangerous Sheffield spoiler Andrew Facey for the English Light Middleweight title and popular Irishman Brian Magee takes on Andrew Lowe of London's East End in a final eliminator for the British Light Heavyweight title. Woolcombe, 22-0 (7), has marched through good opposition over the last year, outpointing Eugenio Monteiro while stopping both Gilbert Eastman and Lee Murtaugh. After finishing only 1 of his first 13 opponents, "Hot Stuff" has made short work of 6 of his last 8 rivals with 1 disqualification win. In meeting Andrew Facey, 18-4-1 (5), Woolcombe will be
stepping up to his toughest challenge to date. The 34 year old
English titlist holds wins over Matthew Macklin, Gilbert Eastman
and Darren Rhodes. Facey unsuccessfully challenged Jamie Moore
for the British title three years ago and the awkward Brendan
Ingle trained fighter pushed Commonwealth Champion Bradley Pryce
to the limit Maloney has also added ex-IBO Super Middle Champion Brian Magee, 26-3 (18), to the Goresbrook card and the Belfast southpaw will face Hackney's Andrew Lowe in a final eliminator for the domestic light heavyweight crown. This will be Magee's second outing after a hotly contested stoppage loss last summer at the hands of British and Commonwealth Super Middle Champion Carl Froch. Lowe, 16-1 (1), has fought mostly at cruiserweight but
mounted a spirited challenge to British, Commonwealth and WBA
International Light Heavyweight titlist Peter Oboh during a
losing effort in May, 2004. |
