Erik Bazinyan To Face Marcelo Coceres On June 23

In preparation for his next fight scheduled for June 23 at the Montreal Casino cabaret, which will be the finale of the Eye of the Tiger national holiday event, EOTTM protégé Erik Bazinyan (27-0, 21 K.O.) will make a second title defense against an opponent who is known to be a robust casher. The current NABF champion ranked 5th in the WBA world at 168 lb will face Argentina's Marcelo Esteban Coceres (30-3-1, 16 K.O.) for the NABF and NABA super middleweight titles.

The Argentinian fighter is a tough and experienced opponent that should provide Bazinyan with important rounds of experience to prepare him for the division's elite. Coceres has only had 3 losses in 34 fights as a professional. Of those, only one loss was by knockout, and that came at the hands of former WBO world champion Billy Joe Saunders, against whom he fought a relentless war for the first 10 rounds before falling twice to the mat in the 11th round and seeing the WBO world belt slip from his grasp. Coceres was also one of the few boxers who managed to stay on his feet against Edgar Berlanga, whom he faced at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas last November.
