Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Steven Butler
Final Press Conference
Kazakhstan native and undefeated Janikbek "Qazaq Style"
Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KOs) and Quebec contender Steven Butler
(32-3-1, 26 KOs) faced off for the first time at the final
press conference on the cusp of their championship bout this
Saturday, May 13, where Alimkhanuly will attempt to defend
his WBO title in a duel scheduled for 12-rounds. The fight,
presented by Top Rank in association with Eye of the Tiger,
will air live from the Stockton Arena in Stockton,
California on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, ESPN+ and the Punching
Grace Network at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
The verbal exchange showcased the intentions of the 2 boxers
and it promises to be a fierce fight where one thinks he
will not be touched and the other that thinks he will get a
victory by KO.
“I don’t want to defend my title every time I fight, I want
to unify my titles. I think it’s going to be a big fight on
Saturday night and I think it’s gonna be an easy win for me”
“As a boxer, I really respect him because he says what he
thinks, what’s on his mind, but I’m going to show him what
he’s not going to be even able to knock me out, he’s not
gonna be able to touch me.”
Steven Butler's answers were unequivocal, and the
determination and confidence is clearly evident;
“I learnt a lot. I started boxing at 11 years old, now im
27, I have a lot of experience behind me and when I put it
all together on Saturday night, I’m gonna shock the world.”
"Don't miss the fight on Saturday, I'm going to shock the
world. He's making a big mistake when by thinking he's
already beaten me. He has a big fight on his hands on
Saturday, I'm going to hurt him, mark my words.
