Top Prospect Tito Mercado
Fights Aug. 26 In Ontario, Ca.
Boxing’s Top International Prospect, Tito Mercado, (11-0, 10
KOs), of Pomona, CA faces battle tested veteran Carlos
Manuel Portillo, (23-4, 17 KOs), of Asuncion, Paraguay, on
Saturday, August 26 at the Lumcolor ‘Phoenix Center’ in
Ontario, CA.
Promoted by Fight City Promotions and broadcast live on
their YouTube channel, the scheduled ten-round main event
will be fought in the junior welterweight division. The
Lumcolor ‘Phoenix Center’ is located 11255 Central Ave.,
Building 2, Ontario, CA 91762.
The 21-year-old Mercado, fighting out of Pomona, CA, returns
home following a dominant ten-round decision victory over
perennial contender Xolisani Ndongeni on July 8, 2023 in
Managua, Nicaragua. Prior to the win over Ndongeni, the
promotional free agent had knocked out all ten of his
opponents since turning professional in July 2021.
“I’m very excited to be fighting in Ontario for the fourth
time, the local support I’ve received at my fights has been
overwhelming,” said the lauded Mercado. “As I’ve proved and
will continue to do so, I’m ready for any top name,
contender or world champion in the junior welterweight
division.”
Portillo is facing off against Mercado following an
eight-round decision victory over Juan Marcos Rodriguez
Urtiz on November 25, 2022 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.
