By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - The promoter Yvon Michel is very impressed with David
Lemieux’s 28th wins. A win obtained with less than five minutes
of work.Friday evening in the ring of the Bell Centre, just
before the fight Pascal-Kuziemski, Lemieux (28-2-0) stopped the
Armenian Alberto Ayrapetyan (20-4-0) in less than two rounds. It
is by far the worst Ayrapetyan's defeat. Before Friday,
Ayrapetyan has been stopped only once, and it was in the 11th
round. And who stopped him the first time? The actual WBC
champion and fourth best fighter pound for pound in the world,
the Argentinian Sergio Gabriel Martinez (50-2-2).

Pascal Will Have X-Rays |
|
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL-Jean Pascal really hopes to be able to fight the WBC
light heavyweight champion of the world, the southpaw Chad
Dawson, in March or April, but he will know by Monday if it’s
possible or not. He will go to a Montréal Hospital to take
X-Rays or an MRI, to know the exact level of damage in his left
shoulder.
Pascal (27-2-1), who was coming back in action after a long
absence of 19 months Friday evening in the ring of Bell Centre,
won by unanimous decision in 10 rounds against the former
European champion, the Polish Aleksy Kuziemski (23-5-0). Pascal
was unable to use his left arm after the fourth round. From the
fifth to the tenth rounds, he was attacking strictly with his
right hand, and always with power shots.

Clear Win For Pascal |
|
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - Jean Pascal, who just turned 30 years, successfully
passed his test of resistance before his rematch with the WBC
light heavyweight champion of the world, Chad Dawson, in March
or April in Montréal or Québec City.
Pascal, who was fighting after 19 months of inaction, beat the
Polish Aleksy Kuziemski by unanimous decision (100-88, 98-90 and
98-90) in 10 rounds Friday evening in front of 6,000 fans at
Bell Centre.
The Montréaler was fighting for the first time since the loss of
his WBC belt to the veteran Bernard Hopkins in Montréal
(unanimous decision) in May 2011. Pascal was supposed to meet
the IBF champion of the world, Tavoris Cloud, August 11th at
Bell Centre, but the fight was cancelled in July, when he
suffered a serious right hand injury in training (bone
contusion). Pascal will face Dawson (31-2-0) this spring.

Donaire Needs To Whip Arce To Win Year-End Honor |
|
By Nat Gottlieb - Courtesy of HBO.com
If Nonito Donaire can beat Jorge Arce in impressive fashion on
Dec. 15, “The Filipino Flash” could thrust himself into the
frontrunner’s role for “Fighter of the Year.” But Arce, the
Mexican warrior who has been known to ride to the ring on a
horse, has said several times that this will be his last year in
boxing, and dollars to pesos says there’s no way Arce wants to
ride off into the sunset slumped over a saddle.
In an era when the top boxers in the sport fight just one or two
times a year, Donaire will be making his fourth title defense of
2012. That alone should put him in the mix for this year’s top
fighter. Of those in front of Donaire on the mythical “Pound for
Pound” ladder, Floyd Mayweather has fought only once, Manny
Pacquiao twice, Andre Ward once, and Sergio Martinez twice. “If
he beats Arce, he will have successfully defended his title four
times,” says Donaire’s manager, Cameron Dunkin, who has overseen
the destinies of more than 20 world champions. “That should mean
something.”

Marc Ramsay: "Pascal Is Now A Mature Boxer" |

what Marc Ramsay is believing. Ramsay has been Pascal's trainer
for many years. “From now on, you will see in action a Jean
Pascal who is mature, who has more weapons than ever, weapons
necessary to dominate the top fighters of his division,” said
Ramsay Thursday afternoon at the restaurant 9-4-10 of the Bell
Centre, where the GYM Group was holding the weigh in for the pro
boxing show of Friday evening at Bell Centre. “Jean had a very
long training camp, because the cancellation of his fight with
Tavoris Cloud (scheduled for August 11th, cancelled in July,
when Pascal got a serious injury in training). And during this
long training camp, Jean learned to improve a lot of little
things technically that will finally make the difference in a

believe he has more weapons to face the top fighters of his

appointment, the open workout session.
However, it was Ulli Wegner who was the cause for the
biggest surprise of the day. Abraham's coach, who is
normally known for being quite tough on his fighter, was
full of praise for his prodigy. "I have to admit, that
Arthur has been giving it a 100 percent during every
single training session. I just hope that he will show
up with the same attitude once he stands inside the ring
with Mehdi Bouadla," said the 70-year-old. "As a coach
you have to make sure that your prodigy keeps his feet
firmly on the ground, but he definitely deserved it to
be praised."

Jean Pascal To Battle Aleksy Kuziemski
Dec. 14 Live On WealthTV |
|
Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KOs), the proven World
Boxing Council (WBC) Light Heavyweight champion from 2009 to
2011, is returning to the ring to battle former Olympian and
two-time WBO world challenger Aleksy Kuziemski, live and
exclusively on WealthTV Friday, December 14 at 7 PM EST from the
Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
In 2010, Pascal had an impressive victory over the then
undefeated Chad Dawson, giving Dawson his first professional
loss. Pascal twice went the distance with the legendary Bernard
Hopkins. In the first Pascal v. Hopkins fight, Pascal became the
first man to put the future Hall of Famer on the canvas in more
than fifteen years, yet Pascal was only able to secure a draw.
In Pascal’s last outing, a WBC/IBO world unification fight
against Hopkins back in May of 2011, Pascal took Hopkins the
distance but came up short on points. Pascal plans to once again
fight WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Chad Dawson on March, 23
2013 but before that fight can take place Pascal must get
himself back in the various boxing associations’ rankings with
an impressive performance against Kuziemski.

Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Pascal Hungry Like A Starving Wolf |
|
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - In front of several Montréal journalists Monday
afternoon at the gym of the GYM Group, Jean Pascal has admitted
he is hungry like a starving wolf! And it's very logical. The
Montreal boxer, who will be 30 years old this weekend, has not
fought for 19 months, and he did not score a win since more than
two years.
At his last fight, May 21st 2011 at Bell Centre in Montréal,
Pascal lost his WBC light heavyweight world title to Bernard
Hopkins (52-6-2), who won this bout by unanimous decision.
Pascal got his last win August 14th 2010 in Montréal, against
Chad Dawson (31-2-0), a technical decision in the 11th round.

Billy's Boxing Blog
Just Desserts |
|
|
By William Trillo
As defined by Wikitionary.com
Just Deserts:
A punishment or reward that is considered to be
what the recipient deserved.
It may appear that they're getting ahead, but
they'll get their just deserts in the end.
With the culmination of the fourth installment
of the Pacquiao vs. Marquez bouts, boxing has
been treated to a four course meal fit for a
King and with last Saturday nights show boxing
fans will be licking their chops for more. |
|
|
The appetizer was the May 2004 epic that
saw Manny drop Juan Manuel three times in the first
round only to have Marquez get up off the deck and fight
valiantly for the next 11 rounds. On any other night
Marquez might have done enough to win but the three
knockdowns were too much to overcome and at the end of
the night the judges scored the battle a draw. This
offering just wet the palettes of boxing fans who wanted
to be served up more tasty treats.

Bryant Jennings Finishes The Year With A Bang;
While Eric Hunter Looks To Make A
Name On The National Stage, & Undercard Results From
Philadelphia |
|
By Tim Donaldson
Bryant Jennings burst on to the boxing scene last year when a
last minute cancellation handed him the opportunity to headline
the inaugural broadcast of NBC Sports Fight Night. Since that
time, Jennings has had a whirlwind of year, climbing through the
ranks and capturing the USBA Heavyweight Title. Jennings was
once again put to the test in his defense of the title against
Bowie Tupou. Once again, Jennings passed that test.
Bowie Tupou entered the ring looking like a warrior from an
ancient civilization, a true Goliath if you will—not that
Jennings is comparable to David. Jennings is a big man too, but
Tupou is a beast. Tupou stood taller and outweighed Jennings by
27 pounds. For this reason, Jennings started the fight on the
cautious side.

Kessler Destroys Magee To Win
WBA Super Middleweight Title |
|
|
Photos: Photo Wende
Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KOs) is the new
WBA Super-Middleweight Champion following a spectacular
third-round destruction of Brian Magee (36-5-1, 25 KOs).
Fighting in front of a boisterous crowd of 10,127 fans
at Jyske Bank BOXEN in Herning, the Viking Warrior sent
his opponent down in the second round with a huge right
to the solar plexus. Kessler followed it up and scored
another knock-down -- only for the bell to save the
champion. Kessler kept landing in the third, and when
Magee went down from a body shot again, the referee
waved the bout off. "It feels great to be champion
again," Kessler said. "We planned to go to the body and
it worked very well. I am back at the very top, I am
ready for everybody out there at super-middleweight."

Q&A With Abraham: "I Want To
Hold On To My Title For A While" |
|
Arthur Abraham (35-3, 27 KOs) has entered the
ring in Nuremberg, Germany on two previous occasions. However,
the fight against Mehdi Bouadla (26-4, 11 KOs) will be something
special. For the first time ever, the prodigy of Coach Ulli
Wegner will make his way to the squared circle as the WBO
Super-Middleweight World Champion. Hence, King Arthur is very
excited about returning to Franconia.
Arthur Abraham, on August 25 you won an exciting fight against
Robert Stieglitz and consequently took over as the reigning WBO
Super-Middleweight World Champion. What has changed since then?
Arthur Abraham: I am just more relaxed than before. Of course,
my finances have also changed since then. But that is about it.
Understandably, I was very relieved once I had that belt around
my waist.
