On importance of keeping the belts: “It’s been a long three months of camp. I’ve been training really hard for this fight. Photos: Mark Robinson - Matchroom Boxing

Ahead of the highly-anticipated rematch between Andy Ruiz Jr. and Anthony Joshua this Saturday December 7, shown live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK and DAZN in the US, all fighters from the stacked card worked out in front a lively crowd in Riyadh this evening. In June, Ruiz (33-1, 22 KOs) spoiled the U.S. debut of then-undefeated Heavyweight kingpin Joshua (22-1, 21 KOs), leaving New York as the unified IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO World Heavyweight Champion. The upset is considered one of the largest upsets in Heavyweight boxing history, drawing comparisons to other historic heavyweight upsets such as Buster Douglas’ shocking victory over Mike Tyson and Hasim Rahman’s knockout win over Lennox Lewis.

Top Rank’s Thanksgiving Feast Boxing Card:
Fans Served Up A Full Plate Of Excitement

By William Trillo
This past weekend in Las Vegas The Cosmopolitan Casino hosted a boxing card that reminded me of why I love the sport of boxing so much. There were more feel good moments on this one card than we have possibly seen all year combined. For those who follow the sport this was truly a great night. It’s not a coincidence that this card did not feature any money hungry Prima Donna’s of fighters more interested in Instagram followers than they are taking on viable opponents. What this card did feature was budding stars, hungry opponents and over-achievers who just wanted a chance to prove they belong. That was a recipe for a fight card we all should be thankful for.

  Special Turkey Award
By William Trillo
As per our custom, Pound4Pound likes to kick off the Holiday Season with it’s yearly Turkey of The Year Award. You know the drill, go through a list of candidates that have gone over and above the call of duty to embarrass boxing, “photochop” their head onto a funny looking turkey and list their less than tolerable achievements for the year. It’s become a ritual that I always look forward to. The list of recipients is endless, fighters, promoters and referees have all taken home the Golden Bird.

But this year we opened up a special category for a newbie in the boxing game who stepped up and really shamed boxing in a way that deserves this very special and unique award. Normally we hand out the award on Thanksgiving Day but as you will find out, there was a reason for the delay.
