  Round 12: Two "Greats" Clashed In The Ring
By Mauricio Sulaiman
Son of Jose Sulaiman / WBC President

I’m definitely not going to write anything about coronavirus, as you will find that in every channel, column, chat in what’s app, memes and general conversations with almost everyone.

Today we are going to talk about the phenomenon that two all-time Mexican Greats have achieved.

Julio César Chávez and Jorge “Travieso” Arce have given us two amazing exhibitions, going up to the ring to fight, with headgear and 16-ounce gloves for three scintillating rounds. The first was on November 23, 2019, in Tijuana, and took place due to the great, caring and generous humanity of both, as their goal was to raise funds to support former world champion José Luis Castillo with the medical expenses derived from the accident of ring that his son had during a sparring session.

“I can make no excuses tonight. I had a lot of complications.”

  Otto Wallin Wants Tyson Fury Rematch
Brand-new WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury wasn’t the only fighter whose stock rose dramatically with his dominant seventh-round stoppage of Deontay Wilder Saturday night.

By virtue of his strong performance against Fury last September, Sweden’s IBF #15-ranked Otto Wallin (20-1, 13 KOs) must now be considered a serious force in the big man’s division. “If anybody still doubted me, now they know,” said Wallin. “My fight with Fury was of course a much better fight and I showed that I belong as a top contender.”

  Tyson Unleashes Fury To Destroy Wilder In 7th;
Plus Full Undercard Results From Las Vegas

By William Trillo @ Ringside

Heavyweight Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KO’s) was completely dominated by Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO’s) on Saturday night in Las Vegas. It was a one-sided affair that exposed every single one of Wilder’s numerous flaws. Fury did exactly what he said he was going to do. That is, he brought the fight to Wilder in a calculated fashion as he stalked, feinted, jabbed, attacked to the body and overpowered Wilder with ease.

  Fury Drops Wilder Twice, Stops Him In 7
Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO's) won the WBC Heavyweight Championship with a 7th round stoppage over previously unbeaten Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KO's). From the start to finish it was all Fury. Fury was first and last to land, and smothered Wilder, not allowing him to get into the fight whatsoever. Wilder tried to land his big bombs, but missed wildly. Fury would score a knockdown in the 3rd with a huge right hand behind the left ear of Wilder. Wilder was not the same after that, wobbling back to his corner. Fury would score another knockdown with a left hook to the body which pushed Wilder down who was on uneasy legs the whole night. The end came in the 7th when Wilder came out of the corner looking ready to go as Fury unleashed on him in the corner with big right hands. Referee Kenny Bayless had seen enough and waived the fight off at 1:39 into the round.

  Bahamian Heavyweight Prospect Amron Sands Earns Dominant Victory In The Dominican Republic
Heavyweight prospect Amron "The Sandman" Sands improved to 11-0 (9 KOs) with a victory against Cristian Galvez last night at Club Deportivo Calero in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The six-foot-six Sands, born in Nassau, Bahamas, now based in Orlando, FL, came out aggressively, dropping Galvez in the opening round with a left hook. However, he hurt his left thumb while blocking a punch later in the frame and had to switch tactics. Promoted by DiBella Entertainment and managed by Kevin Dever Sports Management, Sands pumped his jab to outbox Galvez and punished him to the body whenever his foe moved in too close. Going the eight-round distance for the first time, Sands won a unanimous decision. Galvez, of Maimon, Dominican Republic, is now 17-6 (15 KOs).

Lost In The Shuffle Of "The Hustle";
Ace Prospect Evan Anthony Sanchez

By William Trillo

That KO in the main event Friday night at the Honda Center does not have Knockout of the Year written all over it as some have concluded. For that matter it wasn’t even the Knockout of the Night. That distinction goes to Evan Anthony Sanchez who steamrolled Daniel Evangelista Jr. in two short and very impressive rounds.

Unfortunately, many did not see the performance because it was unceremoniously buried on the back end of the card that was built around boxing's undisputed leader in Instagram followers.

As of late, that reputation has carried over to the new, fully integrated casino as Star Boxing delivered two hugely success events there in 2019.

My thoughts on Ryan Garcia vs. Francisco go as follows:

This is far from the first time a fighter has been built up to Super Stardom by fighting a laundry list of Ham-n-Eggers, Tomato Cans, Palookas and Bums. But in this particular case with the advent of the internet and Social Media Ryan Garcia has become a pseudo-celebrity of epic proportions. Whether or not that equates to him becoming a world class and legitimate Champion remains to be seen.

  Wilder-Fury II:
Tyson Fury Teleconference Transcript - Plus Audio

Bob Arum (Chairman, Top Rank): We can't wait for fight night. The response from everybody from cable systems, satellite providers, digital platforms has been enormous. I want to thank especially ESPN and FOX for the magnificent way they have both stepped up to the plate to help us promote this fight. I want to also take this opportunity to thank my friends at PBC, who have worked so well with my staff at Top Rank to make this such a great event and of course giving kudos to the two fighters who have been amazing in the comments they have made about the fight to the press, respecting each other's ability but confident in the fact that each of them believe that they will win. And I'm particularly impressed and very thankful for Tyson Fury, who has shown the world how you as a participant promote a big event like this heavyweight championship match. Tyson has done a marvelous job communicating to the press, and having watched him in the gym sparring, I'm telling everybody that he's on the top of his game and you're going to see a masterful performance from Tyson on Feb. 22.
